Ingredients
  

  • 2 crisp apples such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 24 mini pretzel twists
  • 20 soft caramels
  • 1 tablespoon milk or heavy cream only if needed
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional toppings:
  • Chopped peanuts
  • Crushed pretzels
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Flaky sea salt

Method
 

  1. Wash and dry the apples.
  2. Cut the apples into small bite-sized pieces.
  3. Toss the apple pieces lightly with lemon juice.
  4. Pat the apples thoroughly dry with paper towels.
  5. Arrange 24 mini pretzels on a parchment-lined tray.
  6. Melt the caramels in short microwave intervals, stirring between each one, until smooth.
  7. Add a very small amount of milk or cream only if the caramel is too thick.
  8. Place one apple piece on top of each pretzel.
  9. Spoon a small amount of warm caramel over each apple piece.
  10. Allow the caramel to cool for several minutes.
  11. Melt the chocolate in short intervals, stirring until smooth.
  12. Drizzle the chocolate lightly over the bites.
  13. Add optional toppings before the chocolate sets.
  14. Refrigerate for 10–15 minutes.
  15. Serve the same day for the best texture.
